MOM of the Month: November

Welcome back to our monthly series where we feature our moms here at FIT4MOM Folsom Lake. Today, let's meet our NOVEMBER MOM: Mom Of the Month, a mama who embodies all that is FIT4MOM: strong, kind and beautiful, inside and out.

Christen Christian is our November MOM, and mama to Noah (3), Jonah (2) and baby Luke (3mo.). You know this mama by her signature double BOB stroller with two strider bikes in tow while she baby wears her newest addition. Can we say #strengthinmotherhood ?! Christen knows the value of #selfcare and prioritizes this for herself by regularly attending classes throughout the week. This mama has a kind soul and a beautiful smile. She radiates happiness to those around her. Christen is a joyful addition to Our Village and we ADMIRE her heart and soul.

Let's meet our November MOM, Christen:

Hometown? I was born and raised in Placerville.

Tell us about who is in your family! I have been married five years to Nate who is an ER nurse at Sutter Roseville (hopefully you won't have to meet him there). We have been blessed with three little boys: Noah (3), Jonah (2), and Luke (3 months).

Current/previous career? After graduating from Westmont College in Santa Barbara I worked at R.W. Smith in San Diego (a restaurant supply company) as an account manager and then I worked as a supervisor at Starbucks after moving back up here.

What was your childhood ambition? As a little girl I always wanted to grow up and be a wife and a mom. It took me a little longer than most to meet the man that God had for me, but He has answered that desire and I am now married to my best friend and a momma to three little boys.

What does motherhood mean to you? Motherhood is the hardest and most exhausting job I have ever had, yet the most rewarding. There is no clocking in and out and no breaks, you are always on the clock, it is 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Motherhood is smelling like spit up, having snot from a little one all over your shoulder, not going to the bathroom by yourself, sharing everything you eat and drink, never having a moment to yourself, being a referee between fighting toddlers, giving up a clean and organized house, having a house full of loud chaos instead of quiet peacefulness, sleepless nights, getting slobbery kisses from dirty faced little boys, or an 'I love you mommy' just because. Motherhood is a love for my little ones that are a part of me and that have stolen my heart from the moment I knew I was pregnant with them.

What is the furthest you have been away from home? The Caribbean.

How did you find FIT4MOM? Last year I was attending MOPS and I was at a table with several moms that did FIT4MOM and I also knew a few moms from church that did it too. I had looked for stroller strides after my first was born, but the closest one was Roseville and I knew that I could not make that work multiple times a week. So when I heard that it had come to Folsom I was super excited. I was a little hesitant to try it out because I was 20 weeks pregnant with baby #3. I finally found the nerve to try it out and I was hooked after my first class.

How has FIT4MOM impacted your life? Fit4MOM has been such a huge part of my prenatal and postpartum recovery. It has become a priority and something that I make happen three times a week. I worked out until a few days before my third was born and came back as soon as I was cleared from my doctor. I love being active and fit and had a hard with not being able to be active after having littles. Working out with other mommas that are going through the same struggles that I am experiencing or that have been there and done that is such an encouragement. It really takes a village. FIT4MOM makes me a better momma. I love it!!

Favorite exercise? I think I would have to say squats and lunges are my favorite right now...but it might be because I am wearing a baby that loves those exercises and they put him to sleep.

Proudest moment? Next to marrying my best friend I would have to say the birth of each of my sons. Meeting each of them for the first time after carrying them for nine months and already feeling like I know them so well and being able to see their precious face.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us! I enjoy sewing with my 1946 Singer Featherweight sewing machine, but it doesn’t happen much since having kids. I also like collecting vintage Pyrex dishes.
