Welcome back to our monthly #MEETTHEMAMAS series where we feature our MAMAS here at FIT4MOM Folsom + EDH. Today, let's meet our September MOM: Mom Of the Month - a mama who embodies all that is FIT4MOM: Strong, Kind and Beautiful, inside and out.
Anglea S. is our September MOM and a strong mama to two kiddos - Alex and Liv. Angela is one of our original Stroller Strides + Stroller Barre members and has been with us from the beginning!
Angela is such a GENUINE LIGHT to our classes: always bringing JOY and SMILES, LAUGHTER and #realtalk. She challenges herself every day in class, is encouraging to everyone around her, is one of our biggest cheerleaders and always gives FIT4MOM love to any mama she meets.
Let's meet our September MOM, Angela!
Hometown? San Diego, California.
Tell us about who is in your family! Jason, the hubby, Alex, our super social 5.5-year-old, and Liv, our quiet but totally sassy 22-month-old!
Current/previous career? I am a SAHM and worked in finance in NYC up until the day my water broke with Alex five years ago! My totally unrelated degree is a bachelor's of science in psychology!
What was your childhood ambition? I was involved in a lot of missions trips and outreaches through my church and family from a very young age. So, that created a pretty strong sense of empathy for the human condition. :) I just wanted to help make people's lives happy. As an adult, and now as a mother, that deep-seated empathy has helped me stand up for those who maybe don't have a voice or to speak up when I feel something is morally askew and needs to be addressed.
What does motherhood mean to you? Joy, unimaginable compassion, lots of daily compromise and fun!!
Where is the farthest you have been away from home? The Orkney Islands when I was 19 years old.
How did you find FIT4MOM? I have a good friend (Sarah Fein) who teaches in Arizona and posts on social media about it. Every time she posted I wanted to join her class. I couldn't believe it when I saw that a franchise had opened in our hood!!
How has FIT4MOM impacted your life? So Many Good Things! Daily mental health, encouragement and fitness have entered my world again! I have longed to feel "back in my own body" for years! I feel that. My kids see me exercise and they randomly do poses themselves! My marriage is better because I am more balanced. And, I have all these rockin' new bad-ass Momma friends in my life. ;)
Favorite exercise? I love love love anything kickboxing-related.
Proudest moment? Hands down, giving birth to my two kids.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us! I'm kind of a dork. I'm super silly and love to laugh. Also, as a teenager I was part of a puppeteering troupe that performed nationally. So, yeah, Dork.
