Welcome back to our monthly #MEETTHEMAMAS series where we feature our MAMAS here at FIT4MOM Folsom Lake.
This month we honor this bright spirit who has graced us with her presence the last year with her oh so beautiful baby girl Morgan. Stevie came to us with her newborn, excited to begin her Strides adventure and has been such an amazing presence in our village. She attends all the Moms Nights Out, a variety of our stroller classes, is always welcoming and friendly to all the Moms and always embraces ALL things FIT4MOM. We are so happy and thrilled to honor her this month. Let's learn a little more about Stevie!
1. Hometown? Born and raised in Folsom! My parents still live in the same house that I grew up in, near the Folsom Police Station.
2. Who is in your family? Myself, my husband Chris, our daughter Morgan (1 in June!), and can’t forget our three dogs and three chickens. :)
3. Current or previous career? I am a special education teacher for the ElDorado County Office of Education. I was a first year teacher when I got pregnant with Morgan, took this school year off, and am returning to the classroom in August! So bittersweet!
4. Childhood dream/ambition? I always wanted to be a teacher and/or a mom! Look at me living my dreams!
5.What does motherhood mean to you? When I was pregnant, a friend of mine shared this quote with me… “Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." - Elizabeth Stone, teacher and author
6. What is the furthest you have been away from home? My husband and I went to Maui for our honeymoon in 2017! Amazing vacation, but I could do without the flights to and from.
7.How did you find FIT4MOM? I found Fit4Mom in the Eldorado Hills CSD summer catalog. My first class was at the ElDorado Hills Community Park with Melissa Scully :)
8. How has it impacted your life? The obvious answer is that Fit4Mom helped me get physically active again after having baby Morgan, but it has been so much more than that! Fit4Mom has given me community, accountability, friendships, strength and the opportunity for daily self-care. What’s more, the routine, engagement and friendships that it has brought my daughter in the first year of her life.
9.Favorite exercise? I’m a sucker for the Stroller Strides classes! A fun, full body workout with my little bestie alongside me?! Doesn’t get any better than that!
10. Proudest Moment? Giving birth! It sounds cliche, but I really felt like my body was made for it and afterward I told my husband I had never felt more confident in myself as a woman.
11. Something about yourself that would surprise us? I used to be really outdoorsy! I grew up hunting and fishing, riding quads, boating, and camping often. Lots of memories and lessons learned in the great outdoors! Most of these activities stopped for me in late high school when work and school (and a social life) took priority. I hope to get back to it all someday and raise my kids the same way.
